How does an osteopathic treatment work?
Osteopathy is not limited to the treatment of individual symptoms, but always sees the person as a whole and seeks to find and promote health in illness.
After a detailed anamnesis (questioning), the therapy is carried out with the hands. During the examination, the osteopath can feel (palpate) the human tissue layer by layer. This is how he detects movement restrictions and tension. Palpation is the basis of osteopathic treatment. This not only makes it possible to recognize the texture, temperature, tension and mobility of the skin, but also to explore the underlying tissue, muscles, ligaments, fascia, bones and internal organs and to be guided by the expression of the whole. Our osteopathic treatment lasts on average around 45-70 minutes. The body can react for around two to three weeks, which means that the symptoms can also worsen for a short time. Each new therapy session is individually tailored to the patient's symptoms. Studies have shown that after four osteopathic treatments, there is usually an improvement in the symptoms, but many people show a tendency to improve after the first treatment. The exact course depends on the individual case, however.
Do I have to undress when I see an osteopath?
A clear no! Even though certain scar tissue and postures need to be assessed first, we ask that you bring light sports clothing with you and keep it on. The patient should feel completely comfortable and relaxed during the treatment.
How much does an osteopathic treatment cost?
An osteopathic treatment costs on average between 75 and 300 euros. The costs depend on the location of the treatment (practice visit or home visit; Germany or abroad; etc.), the complexity of the case and the length of the treatment. Please clarify any questions in advance, including whether your insurance will cover part of the treatment costs, as osteopathy is a purely private service in Germany.
